Audere Santos is a self-taught Filipino-Canadian artist who mostly create black and white hyper realist pieces. “As an artist, I primarily work with pen and ink, and I use the stippling method to capture an image realistically. I am inspired by light and shadow. I love capturing stark contrasts and subtle changes in light and shade, as well as details like creases in paper.
My work usually takes a long time to finish with some pieces consisting of thousands of dots applied one painstaking layer at a time. In this day and age of instant-everything, I don’t mind being deliberate and taking things slow.”
